1. Can implants be used to anchor single crowns and bridges?
Implants can be used to replace a single tooth, to replace several teeth in one part of the mouth or to anchor a denture to replace all of the teeth in the top or bottom.
2. What role does the dental technician play?
The dental technician will form the materials to make the replacement tooth or teeth that sit on top of and cover the implant(s).
3. Will the Dental Bridge Change How I Speak?
All dental treatment may cause some temporary changes in the way a person speaks. As the lip and tongue adjust to the new contours in the mouth, most people typically make the necessary adjustments and return to their normal patterns of speech.
4. What is the tooth crowning procedure?
Parts of the tooth and any previous filling materials are removed to form the ideal shape that will maintain a crown for a period of time. A temporary crown is made to cover and protect this tooth structure while the lab manufactures the more definitive materials designed to remain in the mouth for a long period. Once the lab makes the crown(s), the dentist then removes the temporary crown and fits the lab made materials into the space made for them.
5. Is the crowning procedure painful?
It is no different than other dental procedures. You receive numbing medicine if needed and the instruments used are quite similiar to those used for fillings.
6. Can I take my bridge out and clean it?
Bridges are designed to be cemented onto the teeth and do not routinely get removed. Special toothbrushes and flossing materials have been designed and are sold to aid in the proper cleansing and care of the bridge.
